THINGS WHICH STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO DO AFTER GETTING VISA FOR IRELAND

At this moment, most of your students who are going to Ireland for September 2016 intake must have either got their visas or they may have applied for the same.
We would like to take few minutes of yours, to make you aware of few important things which a student going to Ireland should know.

As you may have noticed, your student’s Irish Study Visa is valid only for 30 days – 90 days. To get their visa extended further, students are required to register at Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) soon after he/she arrives in Ireland.

The below documents are required for the registration process:

· Valid Passport

· Valid Student ID card (provided by the school/university in Ireland).

· Letter of acceptance from the higher education institution, confirming student have been accepted and enrolled on a programme of full-time day-time education.

· A letter from the Registrar’s office of the school/university stating that student is a registered student and stating the start date and completion date of his/her course.

· Proof that fees have been paid to student’s preferred higher education institution.

· The student is required to show a part of his/her living expenses i.e. a minimum of €3000 to the visa office in his/her Irish bank statement.

· Private medical insurance at the time of registration.

· A €300 fee (credit/debit card ‐ no cash accepted).

Also, when students initially apply for visa from India they have to opt for Single entry visa. But, once student is registered with GARDA then he/she can apply for multiple entry visa.

Please make sure to inform students, that they cannot travel to any of the countries from Ireland during the visa duration on a single entry visa. If they want to travel to any other country and return to Ireland later then they should have a multiple entry visa.

​Tips for a Successful Student VISA

There are several factors that may prevent an international applicant from securing a U.S. student visa.

Generally, a student visa can be denied at the consulate any time the applicant is unable to prove that he or she can and will comply with the visa program’s purpose and requirements. The purpose of the student visa is to enter the United States temporarily as a full-time student at a SEVP-certified institution to complete an academic program. In order to secure a student visa, applicants must be able to demonstrate the following at their visa interview:

· Acceptance to a SEVP-certified institution, as demonstrated by the issuance of an original I-20 or DS-2019 form.
· Proficiency in the English language.
· Evidence of financial resources sufficient to cover tuition, living expenses, and additional costs as designated on the I-20 form; and
· Evidence of intent to return home upon completion of the academic program.

If you are unable to provide verbal or documentary evidence to support these factors, you risk having your student visa denied.

Denial for Lack of Finances

Your student visa will likely be denied if you are unable to provide evidence of sufficient finances to cover the expenses listed on your I-20. Financial evidence must show liquid assets. A liquid asset is one that is immediately available for use, like cash. Consular officers do not expect you to have liquid assets to cover your entire program duration, but you will need to have enough to cover the expenses for at least your first academic year.

Denial for Insufficient Showing of Intent to Return Home

One of the most common reasons applicants are denied student visas to the United States is that consular officers doubt their intent to return home upon completion of the academic program. Consular officers are advised to look at a variety of factors when making this determination. These factors can include the existence of bank accounts, future employment opportunities, and written statements by family about future plans to return.

It can be difficult to provide this type of evidence if you are a younger student who has not yet established strong ties with your home country outside of your relationships. Consular officers understand this, but denials still occur and it is important for you to prepare enough documentation that at least supports an intent to return home.

Denial for Failure to Pass the Security Check

All nonimmigrant visa applicants are required to undergo a security check on the Consular Lookout and Security System (CLASS) database to see if their name has been tagged for any reason.

If your name has been tagged on this system, you can be denied a student visa, depending on the reason. If you are coming to the United States to study a technologically or politically sensitive topic, you may have to receive an additional security clearance before receiving your visa. This may not result in a denial, but it will most likely delay the processing time of your application. Students often have to defer their admission for a semester or a year when this happens.

Denial Based on Inadmissibility Charges

If you have been charged with inadmissibility to the United States, your student visa will be denied. Common charges of inadmissibility include criminal convictions and/or prior overstays in the United States that surpassed 180 days.

Denials Even After Previous Student Visa Grants

When your student visa expires, you will have to apply for a new one if you are still enrolled in your academic program and you want to travel abroad. Remember that your application for a new student visa can still be denied, even though your prior application was successful.

Denial Based on Applying Late (After the Program Start Date)

Making sure you plan ahead, and time your student visa application is critical to the success of the process. Your student visa can be denied if you apply for it after the program start date on your I-20 or DS-2019 form. Consular officers can also deny your visa if the program start date has not passed but they have reason to believe that you will not enter the United States until after that date has passed.

You may be able to overcome such a denial if your institution can verify that you will still be permitted to enroll and register for courses at the time you are able to enter the United States.

Getting Refused and What to do

Occasionally students are denied the visa. The most common cause for this is because the consular officer is not sufficiently convinced of the student’s intentions to return to his/her native country after completing their studies. Lately, there have been reports in the press about a relatively high number of Chinese student visa denials. The American Embassy in China has responded by demystifying the student visa application process and providing students with tips and information on applying successfully for a visa.

Most students are denied visas on the basis of Section 214(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) that states: “Every alien shall be presumed to be an immigrant until he establishes to the satisfaction of the consular officer, at the time of application for admission, that he is entitled to a non-immigrant status…”

This essentially means that the onus is on the student to prove beyond doubt their “permanent residence” in or “strong ties” to their home country. Fortunately, a visa denial is not permanent and can be reversed if the student can show new, incontrovertible evidence.

Some tips on how to demonstrate your intentions to return to your native country:

* Convince the consular officer that the sole (not just “primary”) purpose of your visit to the US is to pursue a program of study
* Outline your plans for when you will complete your education and return to your country
* Document family ties, business interests, and assets in your home country
* Discuss your job prospects in your native country upon completion of your US education

Despite your authentic intentions, if you are still denied a student visa, do not argue with the consular officer. Most often, you will be given a note that explains why your request has been denied. Politely inquire from the officer how you can improve your chances the next time and what documentation you should provide to reverse the denial. Thank the officer and take down his/her name for future reference. Then conduct a thorough re-evaluation of your case and contact your international student advisor for assistance.

What to Do After a Visa Is Denied

If your student visa is denied, the consular officer should inform you of the reason(s) both verbally and in writing. Make sure you carefully review this decision.

Depending on the reason(s) and your consulate, you may be able to reapply for your visa once you have collected documentation to overcome the denial.

Procedure to be followed for successful USA student Visa.

With Reference to the meeting with US embassy delegates in India, Monroe College would like to share the following procedures that is required to be followed by the students in order to get Visas without any issues.

* Regarding GRE or GMAT:

Though Monroe College accept students based on each individual students Academic consistency , grade and interview, please inform the students to strictly take GRE or GMAT before applying for the visa. The embassy is really concerned about the GRE or GMAT and students those who have not appeared for either one of this exams would have a high possibility of Visa refusal as it is considered as a mandatory requirement . If students have appeared for any one of the exams then it proves that the student is genuine and they will be considered as a genuine and serious student who has fulfilled the basic requirements and intention to study in USA and this would really help the students by means of Visa. Monroe College strongly recommend all the students to have GRE or GMAT before attending the visa interview.

* Regarding Financial Documents:

The embassy is really concerned that most of the students are not having the genuine financial ability or documents to prove that they have enough fund for their tuition fee and living expenses for the entire duration of the program. Students are either arranging temporary fund to get the I20 or they get the assistance from some financial agents or educational consultants and this is going to be strictly verified and cross checked by the embassy to ensure that only genuine students with genuine money could enter US for education. All financial documents will be scrutinized and strict action is going to be taken against the students those who show fake certificates or temporary financial documents. Most importantly the educational consultants those who are supporting or assisting students with the financial documents will be terminated from the agents agreement and serious action would be taken against them. Kindly check the financial ability of each student as College would not encourage students to just show a temporary fund which does not belong to them to get I20. These students will never study or pay the fee and once visa is obtained they would either disappear or they would transfer to some institute. Students could either show education loan letter or if they are sponsored by their parents or relatives then the fund has to be in the account for a long duration and if it is deposited recently then the source of fund has to be given with evidence.

* ​Regarding Visa Appointment:

Advice the students to get the appointment from the Embassy which is located in their state for example all students from AP and Telangana should get appointment from US Embassy in Hyderabad and students from other parts of South India should apply in US Embassy, Chennai and students from north should apply in Delhi and west in Mumbai.

* Regarding 1st semester Fee:

Inform the students to strictly pay the 1st semester fee before travelling to US. Students who have not paid the 1st semester fee will not be registered and College will cancel the I-20 for those students.

* Regarding Interview:

The officers are really concerned that majority of students are not prepared for their visa interview and most of them are giving a standard answer which are available in the website. Please inform the students to speak from their heart rather mugging some answers from the website.

· If the student asks a particular university can we enroll them?
We can and will register students only for the given universities. Apart from these universities none other issue conditional offer letter therefore it is not possible letter to get direct offers.

Eurasia can offer an extra counseling for the student’s preferred university at a fee of 1000 € once they complete Language Course as mentioned in application form. Otherwise they will get counseling for the final placemen at university from where they have received the conditional offer. The target is to bring the Student finally to the partner universities of Eurasia because the partner universities are assisting Eurasia to recruit students abroad. We want to work for the given partner universities, not for all German universities.

· Percentage of German & English Language to be studied in their UG/PG?

Eurasia or We do not do English taught programs at all. So the percentage of German language in their UG/PG would be either mixture of English and German or 100 % German.

· Eligibility of students to be enrolled for Eurasia / Wildau?

Students who has completed 12th Class or a Diploma of Associate Engineering are eligible to apply for WFY program. Wildau offers programs only for Engineers and for Business and Management.

Do they have to have blocked ac/ of 8040 Euros Every year?

Not every year but whenever they need to change or extend their visas. E.g. Students for WFY program does not need to open a Blocked account because this amount is already included and should be paid together(WFY tuition fee + Blocked account), and the University will give the confirmation separately about this blocked amount and once they will finish the Foundation year and start Bachelor degree, they need to have a Blocked account with the said amount. On the other hand students for Pathway program will finish the German language and join the university. Then they need to change their visa and at this time students need to have either blocked account or the same amount in their normal account. Students are allowed during their Bachelor and Master study program to work part time and full time when they have holidays. Normally student earn their own money for living as well as for the Visa extension.

· What happens if the student cannot complete their language program within their study time? Will they be given time for completing it? how long?

For a Pathway program of 9 months (A1 – C2) students get a 2 years visa and during this time they have to finish the German language course and join the university. For WFY program students get 2 chances in the coming semesters to pass the exam if they fail.

· Stay back options after Eurasia and after their UG or PG?

Everyone having finished their UG or PG gets 18 months job search visa. During these 18 months students have to find a job to get Blue Card / work permit. Once student gets it and have worked at least for 3 years students are eligible to apply for PR in Germany.

· Can they shift between countries / Universities while studying? Will they be eligible for Erasmus Mundus scholarships?

Yes, they can switch countries and Universities and they will be eligible for Erasmus Mundus program and Scholarship.

· Can these students take English taught programmes in their masters level/ Doctorate after completing

They can. But Eurasia or we do not help students for English Taught programs and they can apply and get into such programs by themselves after reaching there. We cannot guarantee admission for English taught programs .

New Rules for STEM-OPT extension in USA.

Good News for students who are aspiring to study at student visa (F1) in the United States. Students will now have the privilege to enjoy the OPT extension of 24 months for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields instead of 17 months.

Today, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) published its final rule to strengthen and enhance the optional practical training (OPT) program for F-1 International students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields.

The new STEM OPT extension is a 24-month period of temporary training that directly relates to an F-1 student’s program of study in an approved STEM field and effectively replaces the 17‑month STEM OPT extension.

The 17-month STEM OPT regulations remain in effect through May 9, 2016. The 2016 STEM OPT 24-month extension final rule is effective beginning May 10, 2016.

Italy – is one of the most advanced European countries, with students coming to study and research from all around the world.

The educational system in Italy is automatically recognized in 42 other Countries; a degree earned there, is equivalent and equal to a degree earned in UK, Germany, France, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and many more (ECTS credit system).

When a foreign student graduates in Italy, he/she has the right to stay in the European Union area (Schengen Countries) for at least 1 year searching for a job or creating his/her own consulting firm.

Non-European students are allowed to work in Italy while studying in part time mode (knowledge of Italian is recommended for this matter).

Public universities in Italy are subsidized by the Italian government; most of the costs are sustained by the central government. ​Important Eligibility Information :

Since most Italian public universities, as those we work with, don’t require students to pay any application fees beforehand, we have to take care of both the Universities & the Italian visa office requirements for visa; students pay yearly tuitions only by the time they arrive in Italy (so, after receiving the visa). For this reason, the Italian embassy and the visa consul offices in India apply extra careful control policies especially in relation to the funding of the students and their capabilities to sustain themselves during their studies in Italy. Even if they may not officially disclose this information, it is recommended that the student has a bank account under his name with a sum equivalent to at least 5,000 euros (and the money should be deposited at least 3 months before requesting the visa). This sum should be checked by the visa consul officers in order to consider releasing a student visa; it can be withdrawn as soon as the visa is released.

Also, even though the universities do not settle specific age requirements, the visa officers look with suspicion at individuals who are over 20 years old applying for bachelors, or 25/26 years old applying for masters. So we strongly suggest you to only push forward students within those age limits.

Last but not least: some of our universities don’t have official IELTS requirements; they may interview the candidates via Skype and that may be enough for them. But not for the visa officers: it is advisable that your students have an IELTS score of 6.0 minimum when applying for bachelors and 6.5 minimum when applying for masters held in English by Italian universities.

Therefore if you will be able to get us students with a bank account of at least 5,000 euros (even temporary), within the age limits I wrote you about, and with the IELTS scores requested, the visa officers will not have reasons to bounce them back; and if they do, we can have our universities intervene directly in their favour (there’s a difference in dealing with public universities, as in our case, and with private ones. In our case our universities have a stronger relation with the relevant public visa officers).

Earlier in the year NZQA made changes to the English language requirements for international students. These changes will now come into effect from 24 October 2015.

The amendment (to Rule 18 of the NZQF Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules) restricts the capacity of providers to use internal testing and prior school study in English as evidence of English language proficiency for prospective international students. Providers that are approved to use these methods of assessment will only be permitted to use them for students from countries with a student visa approval rate of at least 80 per cent.

Rule 18 does not apply to secondary schools or English language schools.

The change is due to come into effect one month after the date of publication of the student visa approval rates on the Immigration New Zealand (INZ) website.
These rates were published on 24 September 2015, meaning that the new rules will apply to applications for a first New Zealand student visa that are submitted to INZ from 24 October 2015.

NZQA is aware that providers may have already adapted their assessment of English language proficiency to comply with the rule from 1 October 2015 (as originally advised) and thanks the sector for its swift cooperation. Providers are encouraged to conduct their testing in ways that will comply with the rule change from this date.

· Category 1 and approved Category 2 education providers can now use Internal English proficiency assessments only for international students from countries with an annual student visa success rate of at least 80 per cent.

· Category 1, 2 and 3 education providers can now use previous study at schools where English is the medium of instruction as evidence of English proficiency only for international students from countries with an annual student visa success rate of at least 80 per cent.

· For all other countries having visa success rate lower than 80% their students will now need to compulsorily provide other approved sources of English Language Proficiency Levels i.e. through IELTS, PTE or TOEFL.

The details of student visa success rates for India, Sri-Lanka and Nepal are given in the table below.

As such all students from India intending to study in New Zealand would need to now provide English Language proficiency level through IELTS, PTE or TOEFL.
